• Sturla Gunnarsson has taken over as president of the Directors Guild of Canada's national board, following the organization's recent AGM in Calgary and replacing longtime boss Alan Goluboff. Gunnarsson will serve a two-year term.

• Entertainment One has named Michael Smith its new VP of television sales, putting him and his 20 years in the field to work making the E1 brand more visible. Smith has previously worked for entertainment providers as broad as Polygram Filmed Entertainment and the World Wrestling Federation.

• Dennis Hoffman is now SVP and GM of CIS Vancouver, moving up from head of production. Marianne O'Reilly, currently president of the Vancouver effects shop, will relocate to the east coast to consult on new business opportunities for its parent company

• Rita Carbone Fleury has been tapped by the Bell New Media Fund to head up its marketing and business development initiative.

• Douglas Chow has exited Telefilm Canada, leaving his post as deputy director of strategic communications at the Montreal office to head up external communications at TD Meloche Monnex.

• The Toronto International Film Festival has added Raymond Phathanavirangoon to its team for this year's festival, where he will head up Southeast Asian programming. He has previously served as international programmer for the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival and, before that, worked the Hong Kong International Film Fest.

• Rogers Communications named Isabelle Marcoux to its board of directors. Marcoux is vice chair of the board and VP of corporate development for Montreal's Transcontinental.

• The Canadian Association of Broadcast Representatives has added Paul Sedik to its 2008 board of directors. Sedik has been national sales director at Astral Media's offices in Toronto since January.
