Canuel wraps Cadavres
by: May 28, 2007 Print

Erik Canuel has wrapped his latest, the dark comedy Cadavres, after a five-week shoot in Montreal with his Bon Cop, Bad Cop star Patrick Huard. The $5-million project stars Huard as a man whose life is drastically altered after his mother dies. Though emotionally traumatized, he connects with his sister and the two relive the innocence of their childhood. Meanwhile, corpses begin to collect in his basement, inexplicably.

The comedy/mystery is written by Benoit Guichard, and based on the whodunit by François Barcelo. The cast is rounded out by Julie Le Breton (The Rocket), Sylvie Boucher (Karmina) and Christian Bégin (Nez rouge).

Produced by Pierre Gendron (Sans elle) and Christian Larouche (¿ vos marques... party!) of Montreal's Zoofilms Productions, it is lit by Bernard Couture (Duo, Nez rouge), with special effects by Simon Martineau (The Spiderwick Chronicles). Cadavres received funding from Telefilm Canada, SODEC, Radio-Canada and Super Ecran, and will be distributed by Christal Films in 2008.
