CBC goes shareable with Stage6
by: Apr 2, 2007 Print

CBC has put more of its programming online, following a deal announced in March with DivX that has added a selection of its shows and clips to the recently launched video-sharing site Stage6.

Footage from The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos, The National and other programs are now viewable on the site's CBC channel, one of hundreds offered by Stage 6. The site was launched last year by DivX, the San Diego-based maker of video compression software, and is similar YouTube and Google Video.

The content will be updated weekly.

"CBC is not just a media company. They are truly a pioneer and share our goal of building a better media future," said DivX exec Kevin Hell, in a statement.

"By creating a channel on Stage6, we are able to reach a broader audience as our viewers re-live the excitement of their favorite CBC shows," added Bob Kerr, the Ceeb's VP of business development.

DivX and CBC have also agreed that 20 hours of footage from the Ceeb's DVD Torino 2006: Canada's Quest for Success will be bundled with a new DivX-certified player due this month from Samsung.
