Producer exchange program launched
by: May 15, 2000 Print

Vancouver: The Ontario Film Development Corporation, Telefilm Canada and British Columbia Film are hosting the first of a series of interprovincial drama producer exchanges June 8 and 9 in Vancouver, prior to the June 11 Banff Television Festival.

Over the two-day event, Ontario producers will meet with financiers, broadcasters, distributors and b.c. independent producers to forge mutually advantageous relationships. From each province, six producers who have dramatic projects in development and want to move toward production and explore the financial and creative benefits of coproduction will be selected to participate. Another exchange focusing on the Atlantic region is proposed for September in Halifax.

Applications from Ontario and b.c. producers were due May 15, with decisions about who might attend made by May 17. Participants will get travel grants of $500 and Ontario producers should anticipate overall costs of $1,200.
