Montreal: Animation Quebec is hosting a VFX Day workshop May 16 as part of the market activities at this month's Cannes 2000 Film Festival.

VFX Day is a pitch/showcase event for 10 of the 15-member animation and digital visual-effects companies in Animation Quebec.

The program also includes a vip screening of The Old Man and the Sea, the 2000 Oscar Award-winning animation short coproduced by Productions Pascal Blais.

Participating companies include Buzz Image Group, Hybride Technologies, Tube Studios, Icestorm Digital, Covitec, Big Bang Fx/Animation, Pascal Blais, Voodoo Arts, Groupe La Fete and Klik Animation. The workshop is being sponsored by Telefilm Canada, sodec, Montreal Film and TV Commission and Capital Communications cdpq.
