Cinar debuts Web site
by: May 20, 1996 Print

Cinar Films has launched its bilingual, animated Web site (http://www.cinar.com) with hopes of attracting interest from potential buyers.

Designed by Cinar in association with Montreal-based Arena Communications, the site is intended to mix entertaining and interesting visuals with extensive information on the company and its products. Arena will be updating the site twice monthly and adding news information as it's released.

Leslie Taylor, vp of Cinar Animation, says the site was designed to have "a distribution focus" and cost "less than $20,000" to build. Cinar approached Arena with a design already in mind and the company used its own animation.

One of the more unique features of the site is a running ticker tape announcing company news items. Under the headings of family, tweens, children's and preschool, the site includes financial and news highlights, an e-mail directory, a library with visuals from the Cinar catalog, fan mail, and information on Cinar's studio, animation and music divisions.

Already looking ahead, the company is planning to expand the site to include a children's page with games and demonstrations using animation. MEA
