Trailer Park Boys return to big screen
by: Aug 28, 2008 Print

Its TV show might be defunct, but the foul-mouthed trio from Nova Scotia will be back on the big screen, as production is underway in Halifax on Trailer Park Boys 2, sequel to the popular 2006 film based on the hit Showcase series.

Distributor Alliance Films made the announcement on Thursday, with plans to release the comedy in October 2009.

Mike Clattenburg is back at the helm of TPB 2, which he co-wrote with stars John Paul Tremblay (Julian), Robb Wells (Ricky), Mike Smith (Bubbles), and Timm Hannebohm.

The sequel begins -- of course -- with the trio newly released from jail, though they quickly discover that change is in store in their beloved Sunnyvale Trailer Park, where they encounter a leaner and much meaner park supervisor. Clattenburg co-produces with Barrie Dunn and Michael Volpe.

"The Trailer Park Boys are funny and profane, the perfect anti-heroes. We are delighted that they and the talented production team have agreed to make the sequel. I'm confident that audiences will love this story which is even more outrageous than the last movie," commented Alliance CEO Victor Loewy in a release.

The original movie was a box office hit when it opened in October 2006, eventually generating nearly $4-million for Alliance.
