Boston upped at Global News
by: Aug 19, 2008 Print

Canwest has promoted Kenton Boston to VP of Global National News, a new position that puts him in charge of "strategic editorial direction" at the network, and of overseeing the launch of its four new foreign bureaus.

The network has also tapped Neill Fitzpatrick as Global National's executive producer, another new position that puts him in charge of day-to-day operation of the national newscast. Fitzpatrick was most recently at the Global station in Edmonton.

Boston is credited with the recent turnaround at Global News and reports to Troy Reeb, who was recently promoted to news SVP following the retirement of Steve Wyatt.

"Kenton and Neill are the perfect team to take the Global National brand to new heights, especially with the launch of four new foreign bureaus," said Reeb in a statement. The network is preparing to open offices in London, Beijing, New Delhi and Jerusalem.
